This year marks the 400th anniversary of the First Folio, the published collection of 36 of Shakespeare’s plays. The First Folio was intended to preserve the plays and correct “bad quartos” – pirated editions thought to be based on flawed constructions from memories. Published in 1623, seven years after Shakespeare’s death, it includes several of his plays that had never been published before.
